DEHRADUN, 24 Jan: The state of Uttarakhand, which is hosting the 38th National Games, has received support from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as a sponsor for the event. The official communication confirming IOC’s initial consent for the sponsorship has been received by Uttarakhand. Following this, IOC has been designated as the Bronze Sponsor for the National Games, and will now be prominently featured in the event’s promotion.
IOC will soon determine the exact amount of sponsorship under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category. A board meeting is scheduled for January 28, coinciding with the inauguration of the National Games, where the sponsorship details are expected to be finalized. However, IOC has already given its preliminary consent to be a sponsor.
According to Amit Sinha, Chief Executive Officer of the National Games, an official email confirming IOC’s sponsorship has been received, and IOC will now be a Bronze Sponsor for the National Games.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally led the efforts to secure sponsorship for the National Games. He took proactive steps and made strong representations at the central government level. During a recent visit to Delhi, Dhami met with the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Puri, where he invited him to the National Games and requested CSR sponsorship from IOC and ONGC. Minister Puri assured full support, and Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the assistance from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
In large events, sponsorships are categorized based on the amount of funding provided. IOC has traditionally been a sponsor for the National Games, and after reviewing past experiences, the decision was made to place IOC in the Bronze category. In this category, IOC will be visible in the promotion and outreach of the event, contributing to its visibility and success.
