Mussoorie, 18 May: A grand two-day ‘Jap-Tap Samagam’ and ‘Sumiran Sadhna’ were organised at Guru Nanak Fifth Centenary School, here. From the morning of the first day itself, a huge crowd of devotees gathered in the auditorium of the school. The devotees kept coming throughout the day. The entire campus was filled with devotion, peace and positive energy. Thousands of devotees from all over the country participated in the function.

The Chief Guest, Gurmat preacher, storyteller and Kirtaniya Bhai Guru Sharan Singh, who came from Ludhiana, Punjab, graced the programme with his companions. At the beginning of the programme, the students recited Japuji Sahib. Students of the school sang the shabad, ‘Aavo Sajna Ho Dekh Darshan Tera Ram’.

Thereafter, Punjabi Department President Sardar Harpreet Singh introduced the Chief Guest and greeted him. Bhai Guru Sharan Singh connected the congregation that had come here from all over India with the feet of the Guru through Bhajan Kirtan. The musical mantra power of his Shabad singing immersed the people present in deep emotions. He emphasized the glory of the three basic ideals of Guru Nanak Dev – doing work, chanting the name and sharing. He said that the name of the Lord has so much power that by merely chanting his name, a person is freed from the cycle of birth and death and attains salvation, and the sins of many births are destroyed. The words of Guru Nanak Dev teach that true religion lies in service, truth and humility.

The Sangat recited Gurbani in the Divan organised in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib. It was stated that the aim of education in Guru Nanak School is not limited to bookish knowledge but is the spiritual development of children.

On this occasion, a new energy and enthusiasm could be seen in children, young and old alike.

On 18 May, at 3 a.m. in the Brahma Muhurta, all the Sangat and students enjoyed the Amritvani of Bhai Gurusharan in the auditorium.
