DEHRADUN, 4 Dec: Khanpur MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’, who has been expelled from the BJP on disciplinary grounds, was today allotted a separate seat in the House away from the Treasury benches by Speaker Prem Chand Aggarwal. As soon as the House began its sitting on the first day of the Winter Session, Speaker announced that Champion, who had been expelled from the BJP, had been allotted an alternate seat in the House away from the Treasury Benches. The Speaker said that he been informed about Champion’s expulsion from the party by Uttarakhand BJP State President Ajay Bhatt through a letter on 3 December. He was further reminded about it by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Madan Kaushik, today. Aggarwal noted that as Champion was no longer a BJP MLA following his expulsion, he had to be seated separately from the BJP members. Champion was seen seating adjacent to the Opposition benches in House in the pre- lunch session. It may be recalled that Champion, whose activities had caused embarrassment not only to himself but to the party as well, was expelled from the party in July this year after a video showing him brandishing several guns while drinking and dancing had become viral. Earlier, another video of him had also become viral in which he was seen threatening a journalist in the state guest house in New Delhi. Besides this, Champion had also indulged in an open fight with another BJP MLA Deshraj Karnwal. It may be further recalled that Champion had joined the BJP along with several other Congress MLAs following a revolt against the then CM Harish Rawat in 2016.
