Dehradun, 19 Oct: Final year students of Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University, visited the district prison located at Suddhowala, here. The students were led by the Head of Department, Dr Poonam Rawat.
Dean of the College, Prof (Dr) Rajesh Bahuguna stated that the District Jail at Suddhowala was selected to make students aware about the functioning of the prison system. He added that practical knowledge is an essential pre-requisite for a lawyer along with the knowledge of the jail manual.
Jailer Pawan Kothari addressed the students on the occasion. He outlined the functioning of the jail system and advised them procure in depth knowledge and relevant information concerning the practical aspects of the prison system as it would be beneficial during their legal practice. He appreciated the college authorities’ initiative for practical learning.
