Dehradun, 23 May: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticised Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his recent statements regarding Operation Sindoor are not only contrary to the national interest but also undermine the efforts of the Indian delegation representing the country abroad.
State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt claimed that Rahul Gandhi, in his frustration and disappointment over opposing Prime Minister Modi, is now issuing statements that do not even align with those of his own party leaders who are part of the official delegation.
Addressing the media here today, Bhatt remarked that Rahul Gandhi is proving ineffective as the leader of the opposition, despite having failed as the president of a national party. He further alleged that neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress party have supported any resolution passed in the all-party meetings. He asserted that, on the one hand, Gandhi claims to support Operation Sindoor in the national interest, but on the other, he repeatedly issues statements that are anti-national and beneficial to the enemy.
Bhatt also claimed that instead of commending the armed forces for successfully downing enemy drones, Congress leaders have raised unnecessary questions about the loss of Indian fighter aircraft and the expenses incurred. Some have demanded proof of surgical strikes, while others have gone so far as to question the very necessity of war, he added.
The BJP MP further alleged that, in their opposition to Modi, Congress leaders have crossed all limits by making statements that are completely at odds with those of their own party members leading the delegation abroad. While Rahul Gandhi is raising irrelevant questions about the valour of the Indian Army, Shashi Tharoor and Salman Khurshid, who are part of the delegation, have described Operation Sindoor as a terror-eradicating mission. In fact, the Congress MPs abroad are vowing not to spare the enemies in Pakistan, even as their leaders at home focus on the damage suffered by India, Bhatt claimed.
Bhatt further asserted that while the Indian delegation is working tirelessly to establish the country’s victory and its significance on the global stage, such statements from Congress leaders at a sensitive time are detrimental to national interest. He cautioned that these remarks could weaken the efforts of the representatives striving to present India’s case internationally.
