Dehradun, 18 Jun: The BJP today strongly welcomed the decisions taken by the Uttarakhand Cabinet in the day earlier and described them as revolutionary and welfare-oriented measures aimed at accelerating the state’s development and improving the lives of its people.
BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt also congratulated the people of Uttarakhand on the state being declared a Fully Literate State and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for extending major relief to UPNL employees through the revision of the cut-off date for implementation of the principle of equal pay for equal work.
Reacting to the cabinet decisions announced earlier in the day today, Bhatt said all the proposals approved by the cabinet would contribute significantly to the state’s development, employee welfare, educational advancement and the promotion of Uttarakhand’s culture and tourism on the global stage. He also described the declaration of Uttarakhand as a fully literate state as a historic achievement and a matter of pride for every resident of the state.
Bhatt said Uttarakhand’s literacy rate has now crossed 98 per cent, making it one of the leading states in the country in the field of education. He noted that the government’s decision to declare the state fully literate was the outcome of sustained efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and ensure access to education even in the remotest villages. Bhatt asserted that the achievement reflects the success of the BJP government’s education policies and its commitment to expanding educational opportunities across all sections of society.
The BJP State President said that the declaration marked the beginning of a new golden chapter in Uttarakhand’s educational journey and would further enhance the state’s reputation at the national level. He added that while Uttarakhand has already established its identity in several sectors, it is now poised to emerge as a model state in the field of education as well.
Referring to the Cabinet’s decision concerning UPNL employees, Bhatt said CM Dhami has fulfilled a commitment made earlier to thousands of contractual workers and their families. He stated that by extending the cut-off date for implementation of equal pay for equal work up to October 15, 2024, in accordance with judicial directions, the government has brought relief and happiness to thousands of the families dependent on UPNL employment. He said the decision demonstrated the government’s sensitivity towards employees and its determination to safeguard their interests. According to him, the move would ensure that a larger number of eligible UPNL personnel receive the benefits of pay parity, thereby strengthening the economic security of their families and boosting employee morale.
Bhatt further maintained that the cabinet’s decisions reflect the Dhami government’s commitment to inclusive development, social welfare and administrative reforms.
