New Delhi, 29 Nov: Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi met Union Minister of AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, in New Delhi, today.

During the meeting, Minister Ganesh Joshi requested the Union AYUSH Minister to declare Tejpatta (Bay leaf) and Taimur as officially recognised crops of Uttarakhand. He suggested that with the support of the central government, Chandan (Sandalwood) should also be declared a crop to provide special assistance to the state’s farmers. The Agriculture Minister explained that once these products are declared crops, farmers in the state would benefit greatly through agricultural and horticultural schemes.

The two ministers also discussed the potential of medicinal plants. Minister Joshi shared that Uttarakhand is home to important medicinal plants like Satavari, Sarpagandha, Kutki, Tulsi, and Koot. These plants can be used in the production of several important medicines.

During the visit, they also discussed various contemporary issues in detail, and the Agriculture Minister invited Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav to visit Uttarakhand, presenting him with a traditional hill cap as a gesture of goodwill.
