IISWC’s Hindi e-Magazine “Buransh” awarded by NARAKAS

Dehradun, 29 Nov: The Hindi e-magazine, “Buransh”, published by the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC), Dehradun, was awarded the Third Prize in the category of “Outstanding Published Hindi In-house Magazine (2023-24)” during the half-yearly meeting of the Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (NARAKAS) (Office-2), Dehradun, held on 26 November. This prestigious recognition was granted for the magazine’s excellence among 72 member offices of NARAKAS (Office-2).

The award was received on behalf of the institute by Dr M Muruganandam, Head of PME and KM Unit, and Ashutosh Kumar Tiwari, Deputy Director (Official Language), IISWC.

Dr Muruganandam serves as one of the Technical Editors of the magazine, while Tiwari is the Chief Editor. On the occasion, Dr Muruganandam shared that IISWC is actively promoting awareness and competitiveness in soil and water conservation and natural resource management through the Hindi language.

“Buransh” features a wide range of technical and popular content, including topics on soil, water, and energy conservation. It also showcases the richness and uniqueness of Hindi with contributions from 31 authors. The magazine includes 8 technical articles, 10 poems, a story, as well as rules and guidelines on Hindi as the official language, along with reports on events organised to promote Hindi at IISWC.

As part of the programme, six winners of essay competitions on natural resource management, organised earlier by ICAR-IISWC, were felicitated. The awards were presented by Dr M Muruganandam, RS Narayani, Executive Director (Head Corporate Administration), ONGC, Dehradun, Dr Chhabil Kumar Meher, Deputy Director, Official Language Implementation Office (Northern Region Office-2), New Delhi, and Ashutosh Kumar Tiwari in the presence of other dignitaries and participants. These winners represented six different organisations.

The winners were – First Prize: Manju Gusai Gupta (PM Shri Central School, Ordnance Factory, Dehradun); Second Prize: Dr Indu Rawat (ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun); Third Prize: Virendra Kumar (KDMIPE, ONGC, Dehradun). Encouragement Prizes were awarded to Manish Nautiyal (Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Survey of India, Dehradun); Karishma Patel (Food Corporation of India, Divisional Office, Dehradun); Rakesh Prajapat (Central Board of Secondary Education, Regional Office, Dehradun).

The ceremony was attended by over 150 representatives from 72 member offices in Dehradun.
