Dehradun, 29 Apr: A minor girl living in a slum area on Sahastradhara Road has died under suspicious circumstances. Her brother has alleged that before her death, she told him that an elderly man, for whom she used to work earlier, gave her a drink. After consuming it, she returned home and started vomiting blood.
According to the girl’s brother, he has lodged an FIR against the elderly man who lives in Ekta Vihar. He said his sister used to work at the man’s house as a domestic helper but had left the job about a month ago. He further claimed that she often told him the old man used to harass her and that she didn’t want to work there anymore.
The brother stated that on 26 April, before they were to return to their hometown, his sister went to the man’s house to collect her pending wages. When she returned, she told him that he had given her something to drink. Later, at the railway station, she began vomiting blood. The police at the station called an ambulance, but the doctors declared her dead. He added that the postmortem report mentioned poisoning as the suspected cause of death.
Based on the complaint of the deceased’s family, a case has been registered in under 103(1) BNS against a person at Raipur police station, and the police are investigating the matter. Raipur Police Station in-charge, Pradeep Negi, stated that the family of the deceased had submitted a complaint against a person. The girl used to work at this person’s house as a domestic help. A case has been registered under relevant sections, and the police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the incident before taking further action.
