National Workshop held on “Development of Significant Intellectual Property & Innovations”

Dehradun, 27 Apr: The School of Applied and Life Sciences, Uttaranchal University, organised a National Workshop on “Development of Significant Intellectual Property and Innovations” on 26 April – World Intellectual Property Day. The aim of the workshop was to provide a platform to impart skills pertaining to Intellectual property including patent drafting and filing.

The workshop was inaugurated by University Vice President nkita Joshi, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dharam Buddhi, Prof Ajay Singh (Director-SALS and convenor of the workshop), Prof GK Dhingra (Dean, SDS), Dr Manmohan Rawat (UCOST, Dehradun), Himanshu Goel (UCOST), Ashish Sharma (IP Nation, Delhi) and Dr Anil Singh (Industrial Expert).

Prof Ajay Singh in his welcome address provided insight into the objective of the workshop and how intellectual property and innovations in Science and Technology can benefit society and environment. Prof Dharam Buddhi emphasised on importance of organising such workshops to impact skills pertaining to IP and scientific innovations.

The workshop comprised different technical sessions with each session dealing with specific aspect of IP including, patent, copyright, trademarks and others. Prof GK Dhingra in his talk mentioned the significance of knowledge about IP and innovations and about different career prospects for students in the field of IP. Dr Manmohan Rawat shared valuable insights into how already developed IP have contributed in development of new technologies and industrial processors.

Ashish Sharma (IP Nation, Delhi) in his technical session elaborated about patent filing processes along with how to obtain copyrights and trademarks. Dr Himanshu Goel delivered a special talk on national and international patents, and treaties including PCT and WIPO. Ankita Joshi congratulated the organising committee for the workshop and encouraged the participants to explore new avenues in science and technology. The workshop was attended by more than 200 participants.

The event was coordinated by Dr Nishesh Sharma. Dr Sadhna Awasthi, Dr Pooja Yadav, Rahul Gaur, Shivangi, Ruby Pokhriyal, Dr VK Srivastava, Dr Shivam Pandey, Dr Indra Rautela were among the core organising committee members.
