Dehradun, 9 Nov: Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, is organising a nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) Campaign 3.0 in Novemberto promote face authentication technology for submission of digital life certificates for Central Government pensioners. Face authentication technology is a technology by which pensioners can submit their digital life certificate from any Android smartphone.
In 2024, several camps are being organised in Dehradun. These camps are being organised at 5 branches of State Bank of India in the city – IMA, Birpur, Saharanpur Road, Defence Colony and IIP Township. India Post Payment Bank is also organising these camps on scheduled dates at all post offices in Dehradun district.
Sameen Ansari, Under Secretary, Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare, will visit these camps on 11 November to make pensioners aware about various digital methods for submission of Jeevan Pramaan certificate using face authentication technology. UIDAI will help in updating the Aadhaar records of pensioners in these camps and resolve technical issues in DLC generation.
Earlier, pensioners had to physically visit the Pension Disbursing Authorities to submit their Life Certificate, which caused a lot of inconvenience to pensioners, especially the elderly, as they had to wait for a long time in long queues. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare launched Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) in the year 2014 and Face Authentication Technology in November, 2021. This advancement eliminated the need for other external biometric device and simplified the process of submission of Life Certificate.
The Department had organised a nationwide campaign in 37 cities across the country in the year 2022, in which more than 1.41 crore DLCs were generated. In DLC Abhiyaan 2.0 organised in November, 2023, covering 100 cities, about 1.47 crore DLCs were generated.
This year, in DLC Abhiyan 3.0 (held from 1 to 30 November 2024), camps will be organised in 800 cities / districts across the country. All banks, India Post Payment Bank, Pensioners Welfare Association, UIDAI, Mety, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Railways and Department of Telecommunications will play an important role in this campaign. Camps will be organised at many places in different cities of the country to help pensioners to submit their Jeevan Pramaan digitally, as well as special arrangements will be made to help elderly and disabled pensioners to submit their DLC by visiting their homes. This campaign will also be promoted on social media, which will be monitored by the Department through the DLC portal. The main objective of this campaign is to reach out to elderly pensioners living in remote areas, so that they can also know about this technology and get its benefits.
