Dehradun 16 Aug: BJP today claimed that there is no rule of law in West Bengal and accused the Mamata government of brushing crimes against women under the carpet. In this regard, BJP’s national spokesperson Pratyush Kant held a press conference at BJP State Headquarters here today. He was speaking about the recent rape and murder case of a woman doctor in a Kolkota hospital. Kant sought to know from the TMC leaders what is the relationship between the accused of this brutal murder and the TMC. Kant also expressed shock at the “fact that even the INDI Alliance partners like Congress are unable to muster the courage to speak up openly about the case.

Kant asked why those who made false promises of transferring money in the bank accounts of women every month are now avoiding asking tough questions regarding ongoing atrocities on women in West Bengal. Kant sarcastically asserted that the opposition leaders who roam around with a copy of the Constitution in their hands are silent on the brutal murder of the Constitution in this manner!

The BJP Spokesperson asserted that this is a very serious matter and not merely a political issue. It is a very unfortunate and criminal act that the police initially tried to brush under the carpet. Initially, the Police termed the rape and murder case of a woman doctor as suicide. It is very shameful that despite having a woman Chief Minister, efforts were made to save the criminals openly. A mob of 7,000 miscreants attacked the hospital and tried to destroy evidence and the administration of Mamata government chose to look the other way. Kant alleged a close nexus between the Mamata Government and the criminals involved in the case.

He sought to know why the Mamata Government and administration always are seen saving the accused of crimes against women. He reminded that, even in the past, the government and the administration were seen openly engaged in saving the accused till the Supreme Court regarding Sandeshkhali incidents. In this incident also, the police did not even question the principal of the incident site and the hospital authorities and now the CBI investigation has begun only after the High Court’s direction. There are many such incidents in West Bengal, which make it clear that the fear of law has vanished from the minds of criminals and there is no such thing as law and order in place there.

Pratyush Kant alleged that goons are torturing women right under the nose and in protection of the TMC government. Daughters of the state are being raped under Mamata’s ruthless rule. The voice of the people is being suppressed by crushing democracy there. The atrocities being committed on women under Mamata’s protection show her cruelty. Due to Mamata Banerjee’s appeasement politics, there is no safe place left for women there. It appears that Taliban rule is established in West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee.

Kant demanded that Mamata Banerjee must resign for her inability to protect women and because her dictatorship has led Bengal into a state of violence and crime. On this occasion, he also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, reminding that despite his frequent criticisms of India’s policies both domestically and internationally, it took him five days to respond to this tragic incident. Kant noted that Priyanka Gandhi, who champions the slogan “Main Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hun,” has remained silent on the matter, as have other prominent leaders of the INDI alliance. He mocked Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether he has ever truly understood the Constitution, the copy of which, he often carries. Kant alleged that the fundamental principles of the Constitution are being violated while the alliance remains silent on these atrocities.

Kant also asked several questions to Mamata Banerjee and the leaders of the Alliance about such incidents and said that, on the one hand, Mamata pretends to meet the victim’s family and, on the other hand, she was willing to hand over such a sensitive case to the CBI.  Kant asked why is it that whenever a woman is tortured in West Bengal, its strings are always linked to TMC?  He asked where are the leaders of the so-called INDI Alliance who claim to fight for women’s rights regarding such incidents happening in Bengal? Why did Rahul Gandhi, who made false promises of transferring money to the bank accounts of women, not give a strong reaction to the atrocities against women happening in Bengal? Why are Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and all other opposition leaders silent on this issue till now, Kant asked.

In response to the questions asked by the journalists about Uttarakhand, Kant claimed that strict action has been taken by the state government and administration in all the incidents of crime. Now since all these cases are pending in the court and it is to be hoped that those guilty will be given the harshest punishment.

BJP General Secretary Aditya Kothari, State Media In-charge Manveer Chauhan, Co-Media In-charge Kamlesh Uniyal and Rajendra Negi, State Spokespersons Vinod Suyal, Vipin Kanthola, Honey Pathak and Kamlesh Raman were also present at the press conference.
