DEHRADUN, 15 May: Renowned film producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah along with co-producer Aashin Shah on Wednesday met Dr Nitin Upadhyaya, Joint Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council and held discussions on his forthcoming movie.
Shah who promotes Sunshine Pictures, has directed and produced many films which include Aankhein, Waqt: The race against time, London Dreams, Singh Is Kinng, Kerala Story and many more.
During the meeting, Dr Upadhyaya dwelt in length the details of the 2024 Uttarakhand Film policy and gave important points to the producers. The film policy is becoming a big attraction for the film industry due to which people are getting interested in Uttarakhand, Upadhayay said.
The state government is firm in its resolve to make Uttarkahand a film destination, he said. In the past 4 months, the permissions for over 100 shootings were given by the state administration, he said.
In one provision, the shooting has been kept tax free by the various government departments in all those areas which fall under the jurisdiction of the state government. Under the new film policy, the government would promote all those areas which have remained untouched so far.
For promoting local languages, provisions have been made to provide 50 percent subsidy with a maximum cap of Rs 2 crore.
For the promotion of languages falling under the 8th schedule, a subsidy of 30 percent with maximum cap of Rs 3 crore has also been kept under the new film policy, Upadhyaya said.
