Dehradun, 24 Feb: A total of 1,314 nursing officers, selected through the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board, will be appointed within two weeks. These officers will be deployed in five government medical colleges and the State Cancer Institute, Haldwani, against the vacant posts. Departmental officials have been instructed to complete all necessary formalities promptly.

Health and Medical Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat stated today that, within two weeks, government medical colleges in the state will receive their appointed nursing officers. Officials have been directed to complete all appointment-related formalities without delay. He emphasised that nursing officer positions have been vacant in medical colleges for a long time, with sanctioned posts including: Government Medical College, Dehradun – 323 posts; Government Medical College, Haldwani – 320 posts; Government Medical College, Rudrapur – 310 posts; Government Medical College, Almora – 207 posts; Government Medical College, Srinagar – 300 posts; and State Cancer Institute, Haldwani – 64 posts.

All these sanctioned vacancies will be filled by nursing officers selected by the State Medical Services Selection Board.

Dr. Rawat further explained that, to improve patient care and healthcare facilities in hospitals associated with medical colleges, the Medical Education Department had sent a requisition to the selection board for nursing officer recruitment. The Selection Board has now completed the recruitment process and provided the final list of 1,314 selected candidates to the department.

Currently, a two-tier verification process is underway, which is taking time. Therefore, it has been decided to proceed with immediate appointments, while the verification process will continue separately. If any irregularities are found in the verification process post-appointment, strict action will be taken against the candidate concerned.

Dr Rawat reiterated that the government’s top priority is to ensure the immediate appointment of nursing officers in medical colleges to enhance patient care and healthcare services.
