Oak Grove School tops pool in Col Shashi Memorial Cricket

Dehradun, 25 Apr: The only match of the day in the Col Shashi Memorial Cricket Tournament for Under-14, affiliated to the ‘Schools’ Cricket Federation of India’, was played between Oak Grove School (OGS), Mussoorie, and Sant Kabir Academy (SKA) at Cambrian Hall here.
OGS won the toss and opted to bat first. Harshit and Ritesh opened the innings for OGS. Both the openers played with tremendous confidence and contributed 47 runs for the first wicket in 6 overs. Both made 18 runs, each. OGS lost 3 wickets at 47. Later, Ankit played a responsible innings of 38, not out, hitting 3 fours, but the main contribution came from SKA bowlers who gave away 42 runs as extras. Harmandeep of SKA took 2 wickets for 20, while Sagar and Suyash bagged a wicket, each. Finally, OGS made 162 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a tough score of 163, Pranshul and Aditya opened the innings for SKA. Aditya was out for zero but Pranshul played a defiant innings of 15. The other batsmen couldn’t do much. Akshit made 7, Harmandeep 6, Sagar 5 and Ujjwal was not out for 8, but the main contribution came from OGS bowlers who gave away 26 extra runs. SKA was all out for 62 in 17.3 overs. For OGS, Ankit got 3 wickets for 9, Dipesh and Aryan got 2 wickets, each, while Satyam and Ritesh got a wicket, each. Finally, OGS won the match by 91 runs, winning all three encounters and topped their pool.
