BJP welcomes lifting of ban on govt employees participating in RSS activities

By Our Staff Reporter

Dehradun, 6 Sep: BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan today accused the Congress of always opposing Ram as well as nationalism. He was commenting on the objection raised by the Congress to the government order issued yesterday which permits government employees to participate in RSS programmes.

Welcoming the lifting of the ban, Chauhan thanked Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the move and claimed that this historic decision of the Centre and the State will strengthen the efforts for cultural and social uplift and development of Uttarakhand. He urged the Congress leaders to see and accept the contribution of RSS in the rescue operations, the recent incident being the contribution of RSS workers in rescuing and helping the disaster affected people from Wayanad of which Rahul Gandhi is the outgoing MP. He reminded that as the RSS volunteers carried out rescue operations on a large scale in Wayanad, the outgoing MP Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders were missing from the scene.

Chauhan recalled that 58 years ago in 1966, an unconstitutional order was issued, which had banned government employees from participating in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). However, the Modi Government at the Centre and Dhami Government in the state have permanently lifted this ban on joining a patriotic organisation like RSS.  Chauhan claimed that there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the state after this decision. The RSS has dedicated itself to the reconstruction of the nation and to the service of society for the last 99 years. Every leadership of the country has also praised the contribution of the Sangh in national security, unity and integrity and during natural disasters. But due to its political interests, the then Indira government had baselessly banned government employees from participating in the activities of a constructive organisation like the Sangh. The Congress regimes made the ban even more stringent in 1970 and 1980. In such a situation, the decision of the present governments is appropriate and will strengthen the democratic system of India. He completely rejected the objections of all the opposition parties including the Congress and said that it is futile to expect support from anti-national and anti-Ram parties.
