Dehradun, 12 Dec: Minister Satpal Maharaj, in his address while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of Rs 625.62 lakh worth Public Works of the Panchayati Raj Department at the district headquarters, said, “Panchayats need to find ways to become self-sufficient.”

While reviewing the public welfare schemes run by various departments in the district office auditorium, he directed the officials concerned that they should develop an efficient work culture for the state and district.

He said that the benefits of public welfare schemes run by the government should be made available to the general public. Whatever problems are registered by the public and public representatives, all the officers should solve them with mutual coordination as soon as possible. Lakhs of devotees visit Baba Kedarnath Dham in the district and everyone needs to work better in this direction to make the Kedarnath Yatra more smooth and easy so that all necessary facilities can be provided to the visiting pilgrims. Emphasis is also being laid on widely developing ancient temples. Karthik Swami and Kalimath would also be similarly developed.

On this occasion, he also heard the problems of public representatives. Kedarnath MLA Shaila Rani Rawat demanded the deployment of officers from other districts for the successful operation of the Kedarnath Yatra and MLA, Rudraprayag, Bharat Singh Chaudhary raised the issue of maintenance of road drains by the local women of Mangal Dal.
