Bageshwar, 19 Oct: Patwari of Patti Nandigaon Tehsil Kafligair in District Bageshwar, was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,000 here this morning. The complaint was lodged by the complainant on the toll-free helpline number 1064 of the Vigilance Establishment. According to the complainant, he had applied for the mutation of his village land, for which Patwari Devendra Singh Bora (Aged 48 years), son of the late Hira Singh Bora, native of village Than Dangoli, Post Than Dangoli, Police Station Baijnath, Tehsil Garud, District Bageshwar, and currently Patwari of Patti Nandigaon Tehsil Kafligair, District Bageshwar had demanded a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from the complainant. The accused had already taken Rs. 1,000 from the complainant and was demanding to be paid the remaining bribe amount of Rs 1,000.
The preliminary inquiry indicated that the complaint was genuine. Anil Singh Manral immediately constituted a trap team under the leadership of Inspector Prakash Chandra Joshi. The team, following protocol, arrested Patwari Devendra Singh Bora red-handed today from the rented Patwari office in Kathfudchina while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from the complainant.
Devendra Singh Bora, currently a Patwari of Patti Nandigaon, Tehsil Kafli Gair, District Bageshwar has been arrested. Following the arrest, the Vigilance Establishment Haldwani team is conducting searches at the accused’s residence and other locations to investigate movable and immovable properties. A case has also been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is being conducted. Director Vigilance, Dr V Murugeshan has announced a cash reward for the trap team in the case.
