Dehradun, 10 Jun: Police today arrested a 31-year-old man from Haryana for forcibly marrying a 15-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her. The girl was taken to Haryana by two women relatives who tricked her and got her married against her will.
The girl’s elder sister, a resident of Vikasnagar, filed a complaint with the local police. She said that two relatives- Darshi Devi and Anita- took her minor sister to Khedarabad, Haryana. There, they forced her into marriage with a man named Sandeep from Chuhadpur village. After the marriage, Sandeep allegedly raped the girl.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Kotwali Vikasnagar under the sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. The police took the survivor for medical tests and recorded her statement.
When the family found out about the incident, they brought the girl back home. The accused also threatened the family not to speak to anyone about what had happened.
On Tuesday, police arrested the main accused, Sandeep, from Yamunanagar district in Haryana. Now the police are searching for the two women who helped carry out the forced marriage.
