Dehradun, 10 Jun: Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for taking a minor girl from Raiwala to Punjab and sexually assaulting her. The accused was caught from Ghaziabad Railway Station, and the girl was rescued, police said.
A complaint was filed by a resident of Raiwala, that his minor sister had left home without informing anyone. Police immediately filed a case and started looking for the girl.
CCTV footage and technical surveillance revealed that a man named Deepak Das had taken the girl with him to Punjab. A police team was formed, and secret informers were also involved in finding the accused.
Later, police received information that the girl was in Ghaziabad. A team went there and arrested Deepak Das at the railway station. The girl was found with him and brought back safely.
After the girl gave her statement, police added more serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. The accused is currently in police custody.
