Dehradun, 2 Jul: The documentary, “A Man of Compassion – Bhikkhu Sanghasena”, directed by noted filmmaker Harish Sharma, had its grand premiere at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Ladakh, during the closing ceremony of a week-long Yoga Week.

The screening left a profound impact on the audience. Chief Guest and Padma Shri awardee Indresh Kumar, a prominent RSS leader, along with other distinguished guests, was visibly moved by the 33-minute film.

Many attendees were brought to tears as the documentary beautifully captured the extraordinary journey of compassion and selfless service.

Indresh Kumar praised the film, saying, “Bhikkhu Sanghasena’s compassion begins with himself, and only then is he able to extend it to others.”

Bhikkhu Sanghasena, deeply touched by the documentary, called it an “excellent movie” and appreciated its unique approach.

He remarked, “This is not a regular documentary. The concept is totally different. More and more people can connect with compassion, which is the most important part of any human being.”

Honouring director Harish Sharma, he said, “It is the result of very hard work by Harish Sharma. He has beautifully crafted 33 minutes out of 20 hours of footage. The pace of the movie is its best part.”

In his humble response, Bhikkhu Sanghasena added, “In the entire movie, everyone is praising me and my work, but I have not done anything special. This should be routine work for every human being. Compassion towards others and the needy is the best thing one can do and it is my motto.”

Director Harish Sharma said, “With folded hands and a grateful heart, I thank Guruji Bhikkhu Sanghasena and all the people of Mahabodhi and Ladakh for their loving support. Turning more than 20 hours of footage — from 2011 to 2024-25 into a 33-minute film was a big challenge.

But I am truly happy that our hard work has been noticed. I feel deep gratitude towards Guruji for giving me the honour to make this film on him and his sacred mission. This film belongs to Guruji, Mahabodhi, and the beautiful land of Ladakh. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

The premiere concluded on an emotional and inspiring note, reinforcing the timeless message of compassion, service, and humanity. The film is now set to reach a wider audience through various platforms.
