Almora, 12 May: Professor Shekhar Chandra Joshi, Head, Department of Drawing and Painting, Soban Singh Jeena University, has returned after attending the 9th World Summit on Arts and Culture in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme of the Summit was discussed on Safeguarding Artistic Freedom including other issues related to art and culture.
More than four hundred delegates, including resource persons from eighty countries, participated. They discussed issues regarding art, and language, especially Indigenous Art, and made a document on the rights to Artistic Freedom- Understanding Barriers and Threats. They expressed concern about AI and its role.
Prof Joshi participated in workshops and panel sessions describing the art, language and culture of India, especially Uttarakhand.
The Summit was jointly organised by the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture (IFACCA), the Ministry of Culture (Sweden), and the Swedish Arts Council. It was held at the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre from 3 to 5 May.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Jagat Singh Bisht, Dean, Head, Faculty Members, and students congratulated Prof Joshi on his participation in this august event.
