“Proud to have witnessed women lead parade on State Formation Day”

Governor felicitates Parade Commanders

Dehradun, 11 Nov: On the occasion of the State Foundation Day, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) honored the female commanders who led the military parade at the Police Lines on Monday. The Governor presented mementos to all the female parade commanders, female equestrians in the horse-mounted marching contingent, and 17 participants from the Him Rakshak Daredevils demonstration team, in recognition of their outstanding participation.
During the event, the participants shared their experiences from the parade and the preparations and training that led to it. The Governor expressed great pride in seeing women lead the parade on State Foundation Day and commended the confidence and balance with which they performed in the parade, motorcycle riding, and equestrian events. He noted that this display of skill and confidence would inspire other young women.
Lt Gen Singh highlighted that this change marks a new era where women are leading in every domain, which is a powerful example of women’s empowerment. He expressed his happiness at seeing how the maternal strength of the state is no longer hesitant, and women are now ready to face any challenge. The Governor also praised the officers of the police department for preparing the female personnel to take leadership roles.
The ceremony was attended by ADG AP Anshuman, IG Vimmi Sachdeva, SSP Ajay Singh, DSP Reena Rathore, Poonam Shah, Rajni Chamoli, Tina Rawat, Jyoti Panwar, Smriti Rawat, Deepa Rani, Vinita Chauhan, Kiran Doval, Himani Chaudhary, Head Constable Poonam Rani, Firewoman Divya Dangi, Firewoman Vinita, Firewoman Neha Dabral, Women Constables Neelam Dhariwal, Preeti Mall, and Reena.
