Dehradun, 11 Nov: Sunrise Academy conducted its sports day on 10 November amongst a good gathering of dignitaries, parents and other guests. There were races, a march past and other sporting events such as javelin throw and shot put.
The Chief Guest at the function was Vipul Kumar Sinha, the Chief General Manager of OPTO Electronics Factory. The Guest of Honour was Vinod Kumar Pokhriyal, an international athlete who has represented India at the highest level. The Chairperson Vidushi Nishank, Managing Director Pooja Pokhriyal, Administrative Director Bal Krishan Chamoli, Director Dr RM Saxena and Principal Nitu Tomar were also present on the occasion.
The function started with reception of the guests, lamp lighting, torch lighting and a welcome speech by the school principal. Fun races for the junior school included races like fruit race, pick the object race, animal and their young ones, balancing the balloon, spoon and lemon race and hoopla race for boys and girls. There were also races for teachers, parents and the other staff members. There was an impressive March Past.
One of the special attractions was the “Tug of war” in which Shivaji House was the winner. The programme concluded with the grand finale whose theme was unity in diversity and the overall winner of the sports day was Pratap House.
