Dehradun, 11 Nov: The 76th Dehradun District Level Annual Athletics Competition 2024, organised in memory of Martyr Major Chitresh Bisht (Army Medal), held on 9-10 December, witnessed Welham Boys’ School with 76 points in the boys’ category and Him Jyoti Girls School with 84 points in the girls’ category emerge as the Overall Champions.
The winners were presented trophies by the Chief Guest, SS Bisht, father of Martyr Major Chitresh Bisht, and special guest Rajesh Mamagai, Principal of Maharana Pratap Sports College. The mother and sister of Major Chitresh Bisht were also present on the occasion.
Among other guests, District Athletics Association Dehradun President Sandeep Sharma, Rajesh Mamagai, Principal, Sports College, Treasurer MC Shah, State Athletics Association Vice President Jitendra Negi, Association Vice President Madhusudan Joshi, International Coach Guruphool Singh, Social Worker Subodh Chaudhary were also present.
The organising secretary of the competition, KJS Kalsi, stated that, in the competition, about 850 participants from 32 schools, colleges and academies of Dehradun district showed their strength in 110 events.
The competition was conducted by Guruphool Singh, Lokesh Kumar, Manish Bhatt, Aviral Belwal, RS Rana, Avtar Singh, Ankit Kumar Bharti, Praveen Rawat, Sunita Rawat, Urmila Rana, Sameer Khan and Kunwar Singh Rana.
The stage management and competition events were conducted by Bharti Mishra.
At the end, KJS Kalsi expressed his gratitude to all those who gave valuable support in this competition.
