Dehradun, 12 May: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr BVRC Purushottam reviewed preparations related to the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign during a video conference held with District Magistrates of all districts from the Secretariat here today. The meeting focused on strengthening preparations at the district level and ensuring timely execution of activities linked to the voter list revision exercise.
During the review meeting, the CEO directed all the districts to give final shape to their preparations and accelerate the mapping process. Stressing the importance of continuous monitoring, he instructed Electoral Registration Officers to conduct mandatory daily reviews of Forms 6, 7 and 8 and ensure their prompt disposal. He emphasised that delays in processing voter-related applications should be avoided and the entire exercise should be carried out in a systematic and transparent manner.
Dr Purushottam further directed that the ASD lists, comprising details of absent, shifted and deceased voters prepared at each polling booth, must compulsorily be shared with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognised political parties. He instructed officials to ensure that these ASD lists are made available to all BLAs within the next one week so that the revision process could proceed smoothly and transparently.
The CEO also carried out a detailed review of printing arrangements for enumeration forms, logistics management and distribution plans being prepared by all districts for the forthcoming revision exercise. During the meeting, he also instructed all the District Magistrates (DMs) to hold meetings within the next one week with Municipal Commissioners of concerned municipal corporation areas in order to further strengthen and streamline the SIR implementation plan.
He also laid emphasis on making training programmes for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) more effective and result-oriented so that field-level execution of the revision process remains accurate and efficient.
Among those present at the review meeting were Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Prakash Chandra Dumka, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Kishan Singh Negi and Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastu Das, while the DMs from all the districts participated virtually.
