Roorkee, 27 Aug: The Department of Commerce and Finance at Quantum University, here, successfully organised an impactful session on “Angel Investment & Venture Capital Funding Opportunities for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” today at its Harmony Hall, F Block.

The session was led by CA Harshit Gupta, Partner at N Kumar Gupta & Associates, Co-Founder of Himalayan Six Sigma LLP and MusTech Trading Solutions, Regional Chair – North at CII Young Indians, and National Co-Chair of its Leadership Academy.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address and bouquet presentation to the guest speaker by Dr Manish Srivastava, Director, Quantum School of Business. Setting the tone for the session, Dr Srivastava emphasised the importance of entrepreneurial learning in today’s competitive world.

In his keynote address, CA Harshit Gupta shared deep insights into the entrepreneurial ecosystem, focusing on how angel investors and venture capitalists play a vital role in empowering early-stage startups. He encouraged students to move from being job seekers to becoming job creators, highlighting that every problem opens a new opportunity for innovation.

Key Highlights of the Session were:
  • Entrepreneurship Mindset: Linking proprietorship with responsibility and leadership in corporate governance.
  • Real Case Studies: Examples like Dream11 to explain how problem identification leads to startup success.
  • Investment Fundamentals: Understanding term sheets, identifying potential investors, and steps for securing investments.
  • Business Structures: Advantages of a Private Limited Company over LLPs for startups.
  • Industry Trends: The rise of online gaming, trading platforms, and digital ecosystems.
  • Networking & Growth: Importance of building the right connections, particularly via LinkedIn and entrepreneurial networks.

The talk was interactive and experiential, allowing students to clarify doubts and gain practical exposure to the investment world. Gupta’s real-world examples made the complex topics of funding and valuation more relatable to budding entrepreneurs.

The session not only enhanced students’ understanding of angel investment and venture capital funding but also motivated them to think beyond academics, adopt a problem-solving mindset, and explore opportunities for creating impact-driven startups.

The event concluded with the presentation of a memento to CA Harshit Gupta as a token of appreciation, followed by a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Varsha Gupta, Coordinator, Department of Commerce and Finance.
