Dehradun, 13 Jul: BJP state spokesperson Honey Pathak today launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his visit to Uttarakhand. In a statement issued today, she asserted that the people of the state need a committed public servant and not a ‘tourist leader’. She alleged that the visit is not aimed at addressing public concerns but is merely yet another unsuccessful attempt to unite the Congress party’s remaining cadre in the state.
Pathak said that Rahul Gandhi remembers Uttarakhand only during election season, remaining absent for the five years and then suddenly raising slogans about the hills as polls approach. She observed that this is not public service but “political tourism”, adding that the politically aware people of Uttarakhand understand such theatrics very well. She added that the voters are capable of seeing through what she described as political drama carried out for electoral gains.
The BJP spokesperson further claimed that the Congress has completely lost its mass base in Uttarakhand. She stated that the party organisation has collapsed, workers are scattered, and its leaders are confined to posting messages on social media from Delhi. Pathak said Rahul Gandhi should first put his own party in order before attempting to target others, asserting that the Congress no longer has a credible face in Uttarakhand capable of effectively representing the people’s concerns.
Further taking a swipe at the opposition, she said that while the double-engine government is moving ahead with a model of development, employment and good governance, the Congress has nothing to offer except allegations, confusion and falsehoods. She added that Rahul Gandhi is welcome to visit Uttarakhand, but he should not come empty-handed or with empty speeches. Instead, she suggested, he should present a concrete roadmap and meaningful proposals for the development of the state.
Pathak expressed confidence that the people of Uttarakhand, who voted for the BJP in 2014, 2019 and 2022, would once again place their trust in the party in 2027. She said that the electorate prefers nationalism over dynastic politics and performance over mere name. According to her, the Congress must learn a lesson from Uttarakhand and engage in serious introspection.
