CM flags off ‘Dehradun Marathon

DEHRADUN, 30 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the ‘Dehradun Marathon’ held at the Police Lines, here, today. This included a 21 km and a 10 km run.
The event was organised the Uttarakhand Police under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with the themes – ‘Run for Unity’ and ‘Run Against Drugs’.
The CM also administered an oath for National Unity and against Drug Abuse. The Hans Foundation was also associated with the event.
The CM reminded that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose birth anniversary falls tomorrow, had played a significant role in the integration of India. Under Prime Minister Modi, India was advancing towards the concept of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. He stressed that such events furthered the cause of National Unity.
Dhami reiterated his government’s resolve to make Uttarakhand a drug abuse free state by 2025. People would need to forsake the use of drugs and encourage others to do the same. This would promote the general health of the citizenry. The youth required to be given the right direction so that they can take up their future responsibilities.
DGP Ashok Kumar revealed that over 15,000 persons were participating in the two runs, a number of them from foreign countries.
Present on the occasion were Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLA Khajan Das, Hans Foundation Founder Bhole Maharaj, Mata Mangla, ACS Radha Raturi, singer Kailash Kher and senior police officials.
