Mussoorie, 23 Jul: At the call of the Mazdoor Sangh, rickshaw pullers jammed the wheels of all rickshaws operating here and started a three-day dharna against the state government at ‘Shahid Sthal’, here, today.
Mussoorie Mazdoor Sangh has put forth its three-point memorandum of demands which include converting cycle rickshaws into e-rickshaws, providing housing to 84 homeless families of Shifan Court and giving operational charge of MDDA parking on Upper Mall Road back to the Sangh.
On this occasion, workers of Mazdoor Sangh along with rickshaw pullers raised slogans against the government and said that, if the government does not pay attention to their demands, the agitation will be intensified. Also, a protest will be held against the government on 2 September, the day of the Mussoorie firing incident. Mussoorie Mazdoor Sangh President Ranveer Chauhan, General Secretary Sanjay Tamta and labour leader Mulayam Singh Pahadi said that former Municipal Chairman Anuj Gupta and Executive Officer Rajesh Naithani conspired and handed over parking to their people, resulting in huge loss of revenue. They have demanded that the government cancel the contract, but no one is paying attention. They said that, if their three demands are not met soon, then the Mazdoor Sangh will launch a fierce agitation.
