DEHRADUN, 30 Aug: Rotary Club Dehradun celebrated the National Sports Day (29 August) at the The Indian Cambridge School. Many sports personalities were honoured on this occasion for their distinguished contribution to sports. The programme was presided over by Club President Nagma Farooq.
The Chief Guest atf the event was noted cricket player and coach Gyanendra Pandey.
Two new members were also included in the Rotary Club at this program. These are Satish Sharma, a well known journalist, and Neelam Misaal. Past President Dr Farooq welcomed the new members and pinned them.
At the programme, under the “Jeevan Asha”, Krishna Kumar was given a cart to sell vegetables and Nanak Chand was given Rs 15,000 cash for surgery.
After the general meeting, sports competitions were organised in which Dr Farooq in hockey, Rotarian DS Mann in badminton, Udita in women’s hockey, Upasak in rope jumping and Dr Faisal in cricket were given trophies. Cricketer Gyanendra Pandey, Alankar Gautam, Ruchi and Manish Rawat were felicitated.
The event was attended by PDG Rakesh Aggarwal, PDG David Hilton, Patricia Hilton, R Bakshi, DS Mann, Swadesh Bansal, Tarun Bhatia, Arvind Oberoi, Sandeep Aggarwal, Dr Arun Kumar, and many Rotaractors and other guests while strictly following Covid protocols.
