Dehradun, 30 Oct: Uttarakhand Ayurved University has more often been in the news for the wrong reasons rather than for the right ones. Ever since its inception, the university has hit headlines over controversial appointments, alleged irregularities in procurement, open differences between the VCs and the registrars as well as mismanagement of the affiliated hospital.
Almost all of the former registrars of the University have also had rather controversial tenures, and many had to be transferred out after various controversies.
A rather unique order of recovery has been issued by the present Registrar of the University, Ramji Sharan Sharma, who is a PCS officer, against five former registrars of the university. As per the orders issued by Sharma, a total amount of Rs 19.27 lakh is to be recovered from five former registrars of Ayurved University.
Of the total amount, Rs 4.53 lakhs will be recovered from former registrar Dr Mrityunjay Kumar, Rs 2,63,854 from former registrar Dr Rajesh Kumar, Rs 4,19,994 from former registrar Dr Suresh Choubey, Rs 7,73,812 from Dr Uttam Kumar Sharma, Rs 15,908 from Dr Anoop Kumar Gakkhar. This recovery will be made from these five registrars as they face allegations of promoting employees against the rules between 2015 and 2023 in Uttarakhand Ayurved University. In this regard, the Registrar of the University, Ramjisharan Sharma has issued recovery notices. The present administration claims that during the tenure of these Registrars, the employees were given promotions and postings against the rules. Registrar Ramji Sharan Sharma who was Additional District Magistrate (ADM) in Dehradun before, stated that five officers who were former Registrars have been given a week’s time to deposit the recovery amount.
