Nainital, 25 Apr: Sainik School Ghorakhal kicked off the highly anticipated Zonal Football Tournament with a grand opening ceremony, today.
Group Captain Abhinandan Das, Station Commander, Air Force Station Bhowali, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Group Captain Vijay Singh Dangwal received the Chief Guest with warm greetings.
A total of four schools are participating in this Group B Football Tournament: Sainik School Ghorakhal, Sainik School Jhansi, Sainik School Jhunjhunu and Sainik School Rewari.
The event, held at the school’s iconic Jaimal Stadium, was a vibrant showcase of sportsmanship, tradition, and community spirit. The ceremony commenced with an opening marchpast in rhythm with the school band team. There was an impressive display of unity, as teams from participating schools paraded onto the field, proudly waving their school flags.
The ceremony reached its climax with the inaugural match (U17) between Sainik School Ghorakhal and Saini School Rewari. Sainik School Ghorakhal trounced the opposing team, 8-1, in a thrilling display of skill and strategy. The stadium erupted with cheers and applause as the teams battled it out on the field, setting the tone for an action-packed tournament ahead.
