Dehradun, 31 Jan: ONGC Dehradun and PCRA organised the ‘Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsava’ (Saksham) Cyclothon as per COVID-19 guidelines issued by the government at ONGC Kendriye Vidyalay Sports Ground, here, today, on the theme, “Green and Clean Energy”.
The chilling winter winds at 6:30 a.m. could not mar the enthusiasm of more than 250 cyclists who registered online and gathered at the ONGC KV Sports Complex.
Dehradun Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ was the Chief Guest on the occasion. ED-Basin Manager, Frontier Basins, Tarun Shah, ED- HoI, ONGC Academy, Manoj Barthwal, GGM(D)- Head, IDT, G Venkateswaran, GGM-Head, Corporate Administration, Vipul Kumar Jain, Sub Regional Officer, PCRA, Neeraj Gupta were among those present.
The Saksham Pledge was administered by Mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ to all present.
Gama appreciated the joint effort of ONGC and PCRA in organising the Saksham Cyclothon in the pandemic times as per the guidelines of government. He said, today, the cycle is a symbol of status and health, and once was the poor man’s need. He motivated all the participants to cycle more to keep themselves fit and, at the same time, conserve the environment and fuel. He noted that during the lockdown more people had become cycling enthusiasts to keep themselves healthy and fit. ED- HoI, ONGC Academy, Manoj Barthwal welcomed the participants and said that, if Cycling is made a habit, it would help in keeping the environment clean.
Earlier, GGM-Head, Corporate Administration, Vipul Kumar Jain welcomed the Chief Guest, and all the participants. He reminded that the cyclothon was organised to create awareness amongst the masses on making cycling a part of their daily lives, thereby keeping the environment clean and green, and themselves healthy and fit.
GM-Incharge, General Administration and Hospitality, Ajay Kalsi, Incharge GM (E&T) and Coordinator, Saksham Cyclothon, Rajneesh Badoni, GM-Incharge, CSR, and Official Language RR Dwivedi, GM (E&T) KamleshDobhal, GM-Incharge, HR/ER, N Mahalingam, Incharge, MM, B Senthil, DGM (F&A) AK Saxena were also present on the occasion.
The programme was ably compered by GM (E&T) Rajneesh Badoni.
The Cyclothon, which commenced from KV ONGC pedalled along Chakrata Road, Bindal Bridge, Clock Tower, Rajpur Road, Dilaram Chowk, Garhi Cantt, KDMIPE Chowk, covering an approximate 12 km route and culminated back at KV ONGC.
