DEHRADUN, 25 Oct: Sharp Viklang Samiti, Chamoli, held a ‘Sanskritik Vandana’ and ‘Samman Samaroh’ on 21 October at the Nagar Nigam Hall, here. The function was presided over by Brig KG Behl (Retd), President, Sanyukta Nagrik Sangathan and one of the patrons of the society. The programme began with lighting of the lamp by the invited dignitaries, which included the 93 year old freedom fighter, Sita Negi, noted Garhwali folk singer Kalpana Chauhan, Dr Sunil Aggarwal, Bishambar Nath Bajaj, Deepak Dhaiya, Lakshmi Prasad Thapliyal, Manoj Dhyani, Anant Prakash Juyal and others. Brijmohan Singh Negi welcomed all the participants and provided information on the society run schools and other works. The programme was conducted by Virendra Singh Rawat. The Sanskritik Vandana started with colourful Ganesh and Shiv Pujan dances under the direction of Girish Sanwal ‘Pahari’ by the ar tists of Uttarakhand. Kalpana Chauhan, besides giving details about her life, sang her famous melodious Garhwali songs. Manoj Dhyani spoke about the importance of 21 October – the day Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose formed an independent Indian Government abroad. Specially-abled persons from various places were also felicitated including Uttarakhand Rajya Andolankari Amit Oberai, a victim of the ‘Rampur Tiraha’ firing incident, Narendra Singh, Deepak Kumar, JS Jangpangi, Deepak Kumar, Para Olympian Neerja Goyal, VS Chauhan of Chakrata, Manish Bhatt, Kishan Pal, Md. Aqueel, Rahul Kumar, Heera Singh, Pankaj Joshi, Dr Vijay Garg, Kishore Bahuguna, Raju Kumar and others. Shakuntala Ramola also presented a folk song. Those who expressed their views included Brig KG Behl, Bishambar Nath Bajaj, Sita Negi and some of the participants who explained their sufferings. The associations that assisted in organising the function included RTI Lok Sewa, Yuva Ahwahan, Hill Development Mission, New Doon Spice, 36 Chaar Dhaam Associates, Gairsain Rajdhani Nirman Abhiyan and others.
