DEHRADUN, 6 May: St Joseph’s Academy organised the 4th Brother VP Bernard Sub Junior Girls Basketball Tournament from 2nd – 6th May 2023. The tournament was inaugurated by the Vice Principal and Sports Secretary of the school, Brother Astinus Kujur by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Various reputed schools of the town like the Doon International School, St Patrick’s Academy, Carman School – Dalanwala, St Jude’s School, Shri Ram Centennial School and Unison World School actively participated and competed against the host school, SJA. The Opening Match was played between St Joseph’s Academy (Team A) and Doon International School in which SJA beat DIS by 37-10.
The final match of the tournament was played on 6th May between St Joseph’s Academy (Team A) and Doon International School in the benign presence of the Chief Guest, Riyazuddin, a renowned Basketball player. SJA won the final match and the tournament by 48-16. Gurman Kaur Sahani from SJA was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament whereas Saheefa Naaz from Doon International School was awarded The Most Promising Player of the tournament.
The Chief Guest felicitated all the winners and congratulated the Vice Principal, Bro Kuzur, Shival Thapa and the entire Sports Department of the school for organising the tournament in such an efficient manner.
