Dehradun, 8 Dec: Soldiers’ Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi today paid heartfelt tribute to India’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat, on his third death anniversary by offering floral tributes before his statue at Kanak Chowk, h ere. The tribute was offered on behalf of both, himself, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ganesh Joshi recalled his meeting with General Bipin Rawat when they discussed the issue of providing height concessions for youth from the hills for army recruitment. General Rawat had assured him that positive steps would be taken on this matter, which ultimately resulted in a 5 cm height concession for Uttarakhand youth.
Minister Joshi also highlighted General Rawat’s contributions in the border areas, such as the development of villages in Pithoragarh and Joshimath through the army’s efforts. He acknowledged General Rawat’s special role in promoting tree plantation in frontier areas. To honour his memory, a grand military shrine is being constructed in Guniyal village, with the main gate named after General Bipin Rawat.
Minister Ganesh Joshi praised General Bipin Rawat as the pride of Uttarakhand and the country, remembering him for his exceptional courage and valour.
On this occasion, Brigadier Amritlal Lal, Director, Soldiers’ Welfare, Lt General JS Negi, District Soldiers’ Welfare Officer Virendra Bhatt, former soldiers Dinesh Pradhan, Shamser Bisht, Mandal President Pradeep Rawat, Ashish Thapa, Ankit Joshi, TD Bhotia, Chunni Lal, and many others also paid tribute to General Bipin Rawat.
