Speaker Bhushan inaugurates streetlights on bridges in Kotdwar constituency

Kotdwar, 13 Aug: Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, today inaugurated LED streetlights installed on seven major bridges in the Kotdwar Assembly constituency, at a cost of Rs 1.29 crore.

As part of the programme, the streetlights on the Sukhro river bridge were formally dedicated to the public by switching them on in the presence of local residents.

Khanduri Bhushan stated that under Chief Minister’s Announcement No. 337, this project—approved by the State Finance Commission—received administrative sanction from the government within the financial year. Following the commencement of work, it has now been successfully completed. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for approving and supporting the project.

She stated, “All seven bridges of Kotdwar—Malan, Sukhro, Siddhbali, Grustan Ganj, BL, Gullar, and Gadighat—will now remain safe and well-lit even at night. Additionally, major intersections have also been equipped with lights, which will significantly improve traffic management and public convenience.”

Present on the occasion were District President Raj Gaurav Nautiyal, Mayor Shailendra Singh Rawat, Municipal Commissioner PL Shah, Mandal President Prema Khantwal, Councillors Pramod Keshtwal, Kamal Negi, along with several public representatives and local residents.
