Kotdwar, 3 Jul: Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan today conducted an on-site inspection of the erosion-affected areas along the Sukhro River in Dhruvpur, Kotdwar Assembly constituency. During the visit, she interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and reviewed the situation in detail with officials from the Irrigation and Forest Departments.
During the inspection, local residents informed the Speaker about the increasing erosion caused by the Sukhro River, which has been damaging agricultural land, residential areas, and other public and private assets. Taking note of the situation, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan directed the concerned officials to prepare an action plan at the earliest for protective measures to curb the erosion and to implement effective long-term solutions, considering the area’s vulnerability.
Ritu Khanduri Bhushan stated that the State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and the overall development of the region. She assured residents that necessary works to protect the erosion-affected areas of Dhruvpur would be undertaken on a priority basis through close coordination among the departments concerned.
She also instructed officials to maintain regular monitoring of vulnerable locations throughout the monsoon season and to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place to respond effectively to any emergency. At the same time, she appealed to local residents to remain vigilant and follow the advisories issued by the administration.
Officials from the Irrigation Department and Forest Department, public representatives, and local residents were present during the inspection.
