SSP’s ultimatum works as 4 miscreants arrested for firing at a person in Rishikesh

Rishikesh,  21 Oct: In pursuance of the directions issued by SSP Dehradun Ajai Singh, Rishikesh Police have arrested four miscreants who had flashed an illegal weapon in Rishikesh yesterday and threatened the local people there.
A written complaint was filed by the plaintiff Deepak Jaiswal, son of Vijay Jaiswal, resident of Chandreshwar Nagar, street no. 18, ward no. 2, Rishikesh, at Rishikesh police station, that he had bought vegetables from the market at night and was returning home. When he was approaching Chandrabhaga Bridge on way back to his home, suddenly the window of a car parked there opened and someone spit on him. When he raised objection, the occupants of the car abused him and threatened him. They also attacked him with a hockey stick and fired from a pistol at him and then ran away.
Taking a serious note of the incident, SSP Dehradun issued an ultimatum to the local police to nab the culprits. After this, a team was formed and today the culprits were nabbed. A case was registered in Rishikesh police station and a case under  section 307 504 IPC was registered. A search operation was carried out by flashing the vehicle numbers on the routes leading to the city under Rishikesh area and a team was formed to arrest the accused and recover the vehicle. Information regarding the incident was collected by the formed team near the spot. While interrogating the people present nearby and collecting information with the help of CCTV cameras, it came to light that in the said incident, a white coloured Volkswagen Polo car with registration number AS 01DB 1317 was going towards Srinagar Garhwal road. A team was immediately sent to Srinagar Garhwal route and four persons travelilng in the said vehicle, namely Samarjit Tewatia, Himanshu, Dilip Bhuran and Riyansh Dhaka were arrested near Teen Dhara. 2 hockey sticks and 1 cricket stump used in the fight were recovered from them.
On interrogating the accused regarding the pistol used in the firing, the accused Samarjeet told that he had a country made pistol and cartridges with which he had fired. After firing in the incident, out of fear, he threw the pistol and cartridges near a dustbin 200 meters ahead of Chandrabhaga bridge, after which, on the behest of the accused, the said country-made pistol and 3 live cartridges were recovered from near Chandrabhaga bridge. A separate case has been registered against accused Samarjeet under the Arms Act.
