Dehradun, 18 Aug: The Uttarakhand BJP has stepped up its preparations for the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections. In this regard, the party held three separate Lok Sabha constituency-level meetings today pertaining to the Garhwal division at the party’s state headquarters in Dehradun. While BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt presided over the meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present. The meetings, held regarding the Tehri, Garhwal and Haridwar Lok Sabha constituencies, focused primarily on chalking out and fine-tuning the party’s election strategy for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

While the MPs from Garhwal region constituencies were invited to the meeting, Tehri MP Mala Rajyalaxmi could not attend the meeting related to her Tehri constituency, ostensibly due to health issues. The meetings are part of the BJP’s ongoing exercise to bring the organisation and elected representatives into greater coordination ahead of the Assembly polls. The party had earlier held meetings with its mandal and district presidents in both the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions.

The exercise has now moved to the Lok Sabha level, with MPs, MLAs and district-level office-bearers being brought together to assess the political and organisational situation and work out the strategy for the elections.

The three meetings relating to the Garhwal division were held today in separate sessions at the BJP state headquarters. The Tehri Lok Sabha constituency meeting was held first, followed by the meeting pertaining to the Garhwal parliamentary constituency at 2 p.m. and the Haridwar Lok Sabha constituency meeting at 5 p.m. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt and senior state organisational leaders participated in the meetings, along with MLAs and district-level office-bearers from the respective parliamentary constituencies.

The meeting concerning the Tehri Lok Sabha constituency, however, was attended in the absence of its sitting BJP MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, who could not participate due to health reasons. Other elected representatives and organisational functionaries from the constituency attended the meeting, including Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, besides several MLAs and district-level party functionaries.

The discussions in all the three meetings centred on the BJP’s preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections. The political and organisational situation in the Assembly constituencies falling under the respective Lok Sabha seats, the party’s preparedness at the grassroots level, coordination between elected representatives and the organisation, and ways to strengthen the party’s election machinery were discussed. The progress and public outreach of Central and state government schemes also formed part of the deliberations, but the central focus remained on preparing the organisation for the forthcoming Assembly elections.

The BJP has already begun activating its organisational machinery well ahead of the elections, with an emphasis on ensuring that the party workers remain engaged at the booth level and that the benefits and achievements of government schemes reach the people. The party is also seeking to strengthen coordination between the government and the organisation so that its political and electoral preparations remain aligned in the run-up to the polls.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reportedly stressed that the BJP is an organisation that remains prepared throughout the year for its programmes and organisational activities. He said that party workers and office-bearers continue to work throughout the year to take forward the policies of the organisation and the programmes of the government. He said the meetings are aimed at discussing how the schemes and programmes of the Central and state governments could be taken to the common people more effectively. Questions and suggestions from organisational workers, besides the targets to be achieved in the coming period, were also being discussed, he added.

BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said the organisation remains the most important component of the party and workers and office-bearers work with dedication to accomplish the targets assigned by the organisation. He said the party has already completed the phase of meetings with mandal and district presidents across the state and has now begun meetings at the Lok Sabha level with MPs and MLAs.

The BJP is seeking to consolidate its organisational preparedness well in advance of the 2027 Assembly elections, when it will be aiming to retain power for a third consecutive term in Uttarakhand. The party’s latest round of Lok Sabha-wise meetings is being viewed as an important exercise in assessing the ground situation, strengthening coordination between the organisation and elected representatives and giving a clear direction to its election preparations.

With the three meetings concerning the Tehri, Garhwal and Haridwar Lok Sabha constituencies completed in the Garhwal division today, the exercise will soon move to the Kumaon division. Similar meetings pertaining to the Nainital and Almora parliamentary constituencies are expected to be held subsequently. The BJP’s focus through these meetings is to ensure that its organisational machinery is fully geared up and a coordinated election strategy is in place well before the 2027 Assembly elections.
