DEHRADUN, 12 Jan: The management of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital has well prepared itself as Swine Flu has knocked at the door. The hospital has reserved a 12 bedded ward for the patients of Swine Flu. Dr. Yogesh Dhand of Deptt. of Medicine has been appointed the Swine Flu nodal officer. The hospital management has released a special guideline for the care and treatment of the suspected patients of Swine Flu.
This information was provided by the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Vinay Rai in an interaction with the media personnel. Its worth mentioning that just recently a few patients were diagnosed Swine Flu positive. After that, the possibility of more cases of Swine Flu being diagnosed in Uttarakhand can’t be denied.
On Saturday, a Press Conference was organized at the Medical Superintendent office of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. While interacting with the media personnel, Medical Superintendent Dr. Vinay Rai said that Swine Flu Sample testing lab is being run under the molecular lab of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital and Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical & Health Sciences. All such patients who feel the symptoms of Swine Flue must contact the doctors at the hospital. Samples will be collected by the specialist doctors at the hospital and then sent for testing. The representatives of other hospitals of Uttarakhand and other nearby areas can deliver the samples of their suspected patients after contacting the hospital management.
Its significant to mention that the Central Molecular Research Laboratory of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital is the only authorized centre certified by National Centre for Disease Control (N.C.D.C.). The complete facility of testing of the samples of Swine Flue H1NI is available at this lab. National Centre for Disease Control (N.C.D.C.), New Delhi has permitted the lab to carry out Swine Flu testing only after it has complied with all the guidelines and parameters. The lab has also been certified by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
The Central Molecular Research Laboratory is the only certified centre of the state for DNA/RNA level testing. This is a matter of great relief for the patients of Uttarakhand and nearby areas that the testing of Swine Flu is available in Dehradun only where they can obtain the test results within 6 to 8 hours. Incharge of Central Molecular Research Laboratory Dr. Narotam Sharma said that the samples of patients admitted in other pvt and govt. hospitals of Uttarakhand and nearby areas can also be brought to the lab.
