DEHRADUN, 12 Jan: A gathering was held at 11.15 am at Mussoorie Rajpur diversion where the statue of Swami Vivekanand is installed, to pay tributes to him on his 156 Birth Anniversary. It was held under the aegis of Netaji Sangharsh Samiti and Dugdh Vikas Samiti where members from different organizations assembled. It was presided over by Arvind Gupta, Kendriya Ashyaksh, Netaji Sangharsh Samiti and conducted by its Mahasachiv, Ram Singh Kashyap. A large number of young enthusiasts were present alongwith others. Floral tributes were paid by all present. Arvind Gupta told about the purpose of the meeting and spoke about the achievements of Swami Vivekanand.
Speaking on the occasion Brig. K.G. Behl (Retd.), President, Sanyukta Nagrik Sangathan and AICC told about Swami Vivekanand and how he spread spiritualism not only in India but world over. His speech at Chicago in America made all spellbound and he who was given only five minutes to speak, carried on for hours together. He was very much worried about the sufferings of the people, specially the under privileged. He travelled all over the country including Dehradun and spread his message. He died at a very younger age and no wonder his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day. We must hold such meetings here, every year to pay our respects. Others who paid tributes on the occasion included Yashbir Arya, Sushil Tyagi, Bishambar Nath Bajaj and Mehndiratta, Harish Bhatia, Surendra Aggarwal, Ram Kapur, Praveen Chaudhary, Ramesh Singh Paul, Pramod Chaudhary, Nitin Kashyap and others. Besides eulogizing various aspects of Swami Vivekanand’s achievements, all agreed that they should meet at this place every year to pay tributes to Swami Vivekanand.
