By Our Staff Reporter

Dehradun, 5 May: The campus of Uttaranchal University looked a little different today. All the roads were decorated with garlands and balloons. The students, who are seen in college uniforms every day, were seen in colourful traditional attire. Buildings, trees and bushes were decorated with lights for illumination at night. It was as if there was a competition among the students to make videos, take selfies and make reels. The occasion was the grand opening of Uttaranchal Yuva Fest 2025.

This day long programme was inaugurated by the University President Jitendra Joshi and the guests by cutting the ribbon. The sky was filled with hundreds of balloons released on this occasion. First, a welcome dance was presented by the students at the inauguration venue. After this, cultural competitions started. Especially open mic, singing, solo and duet singing, solo and duet dancing, Ad war, modelling and UU Superstar Battle were the main attractions.

The evening was dedicated to the cultural parade. Students from South India came out with their traditional musical instruments and costumes while students from Rajasthan, North East, Bengal, Punjab and Uttarakhand and other states came out dancing in their traditional costumes. The dance presented by the students from South Africa and Nepal attracted everyone. Invited carnival artists also entertained the audience.

‘Colour of UU’ moved at the back of the parade. In these tableaux, students displayed their departments, in which someone was dressed as a robot, someone as a corporator, someone as a nurse, pharmacist, poet and someone as a farmer doing farming.

Miss Uttarakhand 2024 Radhika Joshi, Jonathan Sahu and Abhishek Bhaskar, who were part of the jury, declared Satyam Yadav as the UU Superstar.
