Dehradun, 7 Apr: Chief Secretary (CS) Anand Bardhan chaired a meeting at the Secretariat here today with officials of various departments to discuss the development of Tehri Lake region as a global destination. He emphasised that under the Prime Minister’s One State One Global Destination initiative, a comprehensive plan must be prepared to transform Tehri Lake Ring Road and its surrounding areas into a world-class destination.

The CS directed that the Tehri Special Area Development Authority (TADA) will function as the Destination Management Organisation to oversee the project. He emphasised that the plan should include construction of the Tehri Lake Ring Road, iconic bridges, and green pedestrian pathways. Alongside adventure tourism and wellness centres, eco parks and natural viewpoints should be integrated. He stressed that while the work may be executed in phases, the plan must be holistic and complete from the outset.

The CS also instructed the officials to focus on end-to-end connectivity to Tehri, widening and beautifying existing routes and exploring possibilities for new routes. He underlined the importance of site-specific construction while ensuring preservation of green areas and natural beauty.

He further directed that the project should incorporate waterdromes and waterports, with iconic bridges designed keeping in mind the seaplane project. The helipad near Dobrachanti Bridge would be developed as a heliport. He emphasised that all institutions involved must work in close coordination to achieve the vision.

Also present at the meeting were Secretary Sachin Kurve, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Dheeraj Garbyal, Additional Secretary Vineet Kumar and Abhishek Rohila along with other senior officials of the departments concerned.
