Dehradun, 12 May:  In a step forward in its mission of empowerment and inclusion, ‘The Silent Bakery’ has launched its second food truck. More than just a milestone, this expansion is a tribute to the determination, talent, and spirit of the Deaf community. An initiative of the Bajaj Institute of Learning for the Deaf (BIL), The Silent Bakery provides vocational training and employment to Deaf youth. With the first truck already loved across Dehradun, the second truck brings their handcrafted baked good to even more corners of the city, carrying not just food, but a powerful message of inclusion. The students behind the counter are professionally trained in bakery and hospitality, demonstrating that deafness is not a limitation but simply a different way of experiencing the world.

“The students are not just learning to bake – they’re learning to live with pride, confidence and independence”, said a BIL representative. This truck is a vehicle for change. The new truck will operate in public areas, tourist spots and schools, allowing the community to enjoy treats that symbolise more than just good taste – they reflect perseverance, artistry and empowerment. This expansion is made possible with the generous support of ONGC, whose commitment to community development has been instrumental in making the dream a reality. Parents, educators and citizens alike have shown overwhelming support. “This bakery has given our children dignity and direction,” shared one parent. “It’s a joy to see them thrive.”

As the Silent Bakery grows, it continues to inspire all that, with the right support, every individual can rise beyond limitations. The roads of Dehradun will now carry not just the scent of baked goods, but the strength of those who rise above silence.
