Dehradun, 13 Aug: BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan today claimed that Congress is neither concerned with the existence of Baba Kedar nor with the pain of disaster victims. In a statement issued today, Chauhan alleged that Congress is raising the Kedarnath issue because it is looking at Kedarnath as a platform for politics.

Retaliating to the statement of the Congress President Karan Mahara, Chauhan said that the better performance of the BJP Government in respect of rescue operations in Kedarnath as compared to the performance of the Congress should serve as a lesson for the Congress. He said that while in power, Congress MPs could not become the voice of the state interests but claim to be proud of the statement of an MP from another state on Himalayan states made in the parliament. He said that when the special industrial package of the state was snatched away by the then Congress government at the centre the Congress MPs chose to remain silent. They did not oppose the move by their Union Government led by Manmohan Singh.

Chauhan said that the way rescue and management was done on time in the disaster in Kedarnath was the result of better coordination with the central government. The Centre too provided helicopters and other facilities on time and as a result, over 20 thousand people were rescued on time and there was no loss of life in Kedarnath. Chauhan said that provision has also been made in the central budget for disaster in the state. At the same time, the government is also working for the rehabilitation of the affected villages. He claimed that Congress, which is guilty of failed management and negligence in the 2013 disaster, has no right to speak on the Kedarnath disaster. He said that instead of healing the wounds then, the Congress was busy siphoning off the funds for reconstruction work.

Chauhan said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself kept monitoring the work to deal with the recent disasters and the result was pleasant. PM Modi and the Home Minister kept an eye on the disaster situation and kept seeking feedback. MPs, MLAs and the BJP organisation remained among the disaster victims and worked for their welfare, while the Congressmen were busy taking out a political yatra to Kedarnath, looking for opportunities in the disaster. They were neither concerned with the disaster nor the victims, but were looking for political ground for the Kedarnath by-election.

Chauhan described the nationwide demonstration of Congress on the Adani issue as a nuisance and claimed that its fate will be like that of Rahul Gandhi’s so-called Bharat Jodo Yatra. He said that the countrymen will not forgive the intentions of those who are attempting to spread economic anarchy in the country at the behest of foreign countries. He said that people are well aware of the campaigns organised by Congress from time to time in Uttarakhand and their duration from start to finish has been limited. Neither the public nor the workers have faith in Congress and its leaders who are basically struggling for their existence.
