Dehradun, 25 Aug: Dehradun police have issued a detailed traffic plan for the Tapkeshwar Shobha Yatra scheduled for tomorrow from Shivaji Dharamshala on Saharanpur Road till Tapkeshwar Temple in the Cantt Area. The procession will move through Saharanpur Chowk, Jhanda Bazaar, Paltan Bazaar, Ghantaghar, Bindal, Cantt area, Dakra Bazaar and Garhi Cantt Chowk before reaching the Tapkeshwar temple.
The yatra is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow. In view of this, the traffic diversions will be enforced across the city. The vehicles from Niranjanpur Mandi Lalpul and Matawala Bagh Cut towards Saharanpur Chowk will be diverted to GMS Road. The traffic from Prince Chowk and Railway Station will be regulated intermittently. Before the procession reaches Saharanpur Chowk, no vehicles from Balliwala or Laxman Chowk will be allowed towards Saharanpur Chowk, with diversions routed via Kamla Palace and Park Road respectively. Once the procession enters Jhanda Bazaar and traffic normalises at Saharanpur Chowk, diversions will be lifted.
At the Clock Tower (Ghantaghar), the traffic towards Chakrata Road will be diverted via Dilaram Chowk. Vehicles from Ballupur will be rerouted through Kishannagar Chowk, Bindal and Cantt area towards Dilaram Chowk depending on traffic pressure. As the procession passes the Bindal Cut, diversions will be restored to normal. At the Post Office in the Cantt area, the traffic from Vatika Tiraha will be diverted via Akashganga Tiraha, while vehicles from the Post Office towards Vatika Tiraha will be regulated. Once the procession clears Dakra Road, traffic will resume normal flow.
Barriers and diversion points will be placed at Patel Nagar Mandi, Balliwala Chowk, Matawala Bagh Tiraha, Ballupur Chowk, Kaulagarh Chowk, Darshan Lal Chowk, Prince Chowk and Ghantaghar. Police have requested vehicle owners to avoid Ghantaghar, Chakrata Road and Ballupur to Ghantaghar routes between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and to use alternative roads. Entry of all the loading vehicles into the city will remain prohibited from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
SP Traffic Jitendra Chaudhary has appealed to the citizens to cooperate by avoiding the procession routes and using diversions and alternative roads, thereby extending valuable support to Dehradun police in managing traffic during the Shobha Yatra.
