Dehradun, 19 Dec: The Department of Civil Engineering at Tula’s Institute is hosting a week-long AICTE-ATAL Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme, “Advancing Sustainable Development: Integrating Remote Sensing and GIS Technologies”, within the college premises.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr Anil Prakash Joshi, a renowned environmentalist and recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards. Dr Joshi, celebrated for his pioneering contributions to sustainable development and environmental conservation, shared invaluable insights on integrating sustainability practices with cutting-edge technologies.

The event also witnessed the presence of Dr Sandip Vijay, Director; Dr Sunil Semwal, Dean, Research and Development; Dr Nishant Saxena, Dean, Academics; and Dr Vijay Upadhayay, Registrar.
The FDP aims to equip faculty members, researchers, and professionals with modern tools and solutions to address sustainability challenges. The programme emphasises the use of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to monitor environmental changes, support land-use planning, and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The week-long sessions include hands-on training, expert lectures, and case studies to empower participants to effectively apply RS and GIS technologies for sustainable development.
