DEHRADUN, 4 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while addressing the gathering at the Samvad Uttarakhand ‘Vikas Ki Baat’ programme organised by Amar Ujala at a hotel near ISBT on Sunday, that the Uniform Civil Code would be implemented in the state before the State Foundation Day.
He claimed that work is being done in the state by balancing development and the environment. The state has moved forward in the direction of Gross Environment Product (GEP). The GEP index has been created by incorporating water, land, forest and air resources. The carrying capacity of the towns in the mountainous regions of the state is being assessed, their planned development will be done according to the carrying capacity.

The Chief Minister said that the monsoon season is becoming increasingly challenging every year for the Himalayan states. The problems of natural disasters have to be dealt with. The route has been obstructed due to debris at many places on the Shri Kedarnath foot journey. The work of bringing the devotees safely from Shri Kedarnath is going on. As many as 17 thousand yatris have been rescued safely. The Garhwal Commissioner has been made the nodal officer for restoration of infrastructure in the affected areas of Kedarnath Yatra route. Secretaries have been instructed to camp there.

The Chief Minister added that a tree plantation campaign is being run on a large scale for a month starting from Harela festival in the state. A target has been set to plant more than 1 crore saplings during this period. Under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, the Chief Minister planted a tree in the name of his mother and his mother also planted a tree in the name of her mother.

Dhami said that Uttarakhand has got the first rank in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals issued by NITI Aayog. It is a challenge for the state to maintain the rank. Efforts will be made to improve indicators on which the state needs further improvement. He claimed that continuous efforts are being made by the state government for the overall development of the state. MoUs worth Rs 3 lakh 54 thousand crores have been signed under the Global Investors Summit ‘Destination Uttarakhand’. Out of this, grounding of Rs 77,000 crores has begun. Work is being done on the construction of a ring road and bypass to solve the problems of traffic jams in Dehradun. Development plans are being prepared keeping in mind the increasing population in Dehradun.

The Chief Minister said that work is also being done rapidly towards increasing the energy potential in the state. Solar energy is being promoted. The state would also benefit greatly from the PM Suryaghar Yojana in the coming times. He said that the work of removing encroachment from government land in the state will continue. He added that health and education are the top priorities of the state government. Better health and education are very effective in stopping migration. The state would also benefit from the Vibrant Village Scheme. These villages are developing rapidly. He said that after the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Adi Kailash, the number of devotees visiting there has increased rapidly.

CM Dhami emphasised that a strict anti-cheating law has been implemented in the state. After the implementation of this law, all the examinations have been conducted with complete transparency. More than 10 thousand candidates have got jobs after the implementation of this law. Strict action has been taken against the copying mafia in the state.
